I am wondering if there are any problems with the students who are going to stay in the dormitory (including residents from suspicious areas related to COVID-19, Daegu and Gyeongbuk ) after March 10 (after self-quarantined), which is two weeks from now.
The most ideal management is that the communal living facilities such as dormitories do not accommodate students. This is because it is really difficult to figure out whether who is infected or not. If any confirmed case occurred, the dormitory should be closed and students would be limited on their movement which will cause great social repercussions. Even though students are coming in after self-quarantined, they can go out on weekends which can be a risk of infection, so I’d rather say there is no perfect solution. There is no crystal clear answer for all the schools with dormitories.
As we are in the situation that the number of confirmed cases keeps augmenting, I am curious how far I should select the person for isolation. Ex) One of the associate pastors of 00 church is diagnosed as the confirmed case. In this situation, should the people who attend this church as preachers or laities be subjected to isolation?
It is really difficult to give answers. Especially, this epidemic is prevalent throughout the country, so it is hard to restrict to specific case.
If there is a dweller who has visited suspicious regions, to where do we have to conduct disease surveillance and quarantine activities? Ex) Entire buildings, entire floor, the room of the person directly concerned
It is not necessary to quarantine all the space involved with the person who just visited suspicious region.
Is it safe to have chapel with wearing masks and using hand sanitizer?
Even though everyone is wearing masks and using hand sanitizer, it is not perfectly safe. Also, currently Crisis Alert Level is raised to Red, so it is not proper to gather as group. The most important thing to prevent prevalence of COVID-19 is ‘social distancing’, which is not gathering in the crowded place. Wearing masks is effective when the infected person is wearing it not to spread virus, and has limited effect to protect people from being infected. Therefore, if there is one COVID-19 infected case, many are exposed to the risk of infection.
There are various kinds of face masks from disposable masks to ones with diverse functions. Is disposable mask enough to protect oneself?
It is ok to use disposable masks. However, reuse of disposable mask is not recommended. After taking off the mask, your hands must be washed and sanitized.
How far do we have to maintain the distance from other people? (with masks on)
It is generally known that droplet infection occurs within 2 meters, so at least 2 meters among people should be parted. Also, contaminated hands can be the means of infection, so there should be no physical contact such as handshaking.
How many people would it be appropriate to accommodate in the 2,300 seats size of chapel to prevent virus contagion and infection? (Normally, there are 1,200 people attending and chapel is held 4 times a week)
As I answered in the above question, you need to calculate referring to the distance as I mentioned previously. Also, ventilation is crucial. If there is no specific air-conditioning system in the chapel, the air flow would be stalled with high possibility which is the high risk of contagion.
How many times would it be appropriate to quarantine the chapel per week? (Currently, entire campus is quarantined once a month)
If that facility is used by people every day, it should be cleaned and quarantined every day. As virus can survive for more than 7 days on the metallic surface, frequent disinfection activity is mandatory.
Do we must purchase and keep (contactless) thermometers and thermal cameras for weekday chapels?
The purpose of using thermal cameras is to sort out the people who have fever beforehand. It can be helpful to have thermal cameras but it is not perfect means to select the suspicious people as it cannot detect heat when a person is not in the exact place, right in front of the camera.
Should the MC of the worship wear masks? (parted more than 4m)
It is recommended to wear masks. 4-meter distance is not the standard of judging as adjacent contact, nor the impossible distance to be infected. There is always slight probability to be infected situationally.
